A day after the Centre banned 59 cell apps with China hyperlinks, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant stated that any apps launched within the nation should adhere to India’s information integrity, privateness, sovereignty, and transparency and burdened that the nation has to remain “data sovereign.”

“All Apps released in India must adhere to India’s data integrity, privacy, sovereignty, and transparency. They must be transparent in origin and final destination of data. India has to be a data sovereign country. This is critical. Apps against whom action taken are lifestyle apps,” Kant stated in a tweet.

 

 

Amid the continuing border tensions with China in Eastern Ladakh, the Centre had on Monday banned 59 cell apps together with TikTok, UC Browser and different Chinese apps “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity and defence” of the nation.

A senior official on the IT Ministry stated the prime cause to dam the apps below part 69 A of Information Technology Act is to cease the violation and menace to the safety of the state and public order and to plug the information leaks.

“Almost all of them have some preferential Chinese interest. Few are from countries like Singapore. However, the majority have parent companies which are Chinese,” the official stated.

This transfer will safeguard the pursuits of crores of Indian cell and web customers. This determination is a focused transfer to make sure the protection and sovereignty of Indian cyber house, Ministry of Information Technology stated.
